Marysville Memo
October 2020
Dear MPS Families,
This Autumn quote seems particularly apt for this year, when we have all had to adapt, adjust, create new ways of being safely together and let go of some of the ways we used to do things, before the global Covid-19 pandemic hit us. Indeed we are finding new ways of doing things, creating new routines, and feeling much gratitude for how fortunate we are to be able to return to school. It has been so fulfilling to welcome the children back to school and to benefit from their positive energy and joy.
The students are showing much resilience and adaptability as they are learning to wear their masks in class, practice physical distancing, and clean their hands several times throughout the day. It truly does take a village to raise our children and we thank our parent community, the educational staff, our office administrator, and our caretaking staff for the outpouring of support and dedicated work to get our school safely up and running this year!
As most of you know, Mr. Beers will be teaching virtually this school year and we wish him the very best at the new LDSB elementary virtual school.
Marysville would like to welcome Mme Lajoie to our teaching team. Having graduated from Queen's University, she taught for nearly 20 years in England as a Mathematics Specialist Teacher before returning to Ontario as a French Immersion teacher in Toronto. Mme Lajoie is new to LDSB and is looking forward to her new role as the Core French, Primary Mathematics and Planning Time teacher. Please feel free to contact her via email at: lajoied@limestone.on.ca
Please Screen Your Child Every Morning
New Covid Screening Guidelines
On October 1, the Ontario Government released revised screening guidelines for schools. The new guidelines are available through our school and Board websites. The new screening protocol has some significant changes, and will result in fewer COVID tests and school days missed due to a single minor symptom such as a runny nose. Please review the new screener carefully and continue to screen students every day before school! Thank you for your cooperation.
Fire Prevention Week: Oct 4-10
World Teachers' Day - Oct 5
Everyone who remembers [their] own education remembers teachers, not methods and techniques. The teacher is the heart of the educational system.

We did it! Congratulations MPS on another successful Terry Fox run. As Terry said, "...anything is possible if you try".
This year's recipients of the 40th Anniversary Terry Fox t-shirt draw are: Raine, Esther & Elvis!
If you haven't had an opportunity to do so, it's not too late to make a donation to our school's Terry Fox fundraising page here. Thank you for support in the fight against cancer!
